Guildford Borough Council has proposed options for building on Greenbelt sites throughout the borough, basing their decision on evidence that many residents believe is seriously flawed.
Having been told 'It is not whether they will build, but just where they will build' residents have come together to question the rationale behind this mandate and to demand that National Policies set out in the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) are not bent in order to build where it is easiest.
We formed in 2013 to unite opposition to green field building across and around Guildford borough, joining together to oppose Guildford Borough Council's consultation proposals on housing and green fields in Autumn 2013. We led opposition to the draft Local Plan in Summer 2014 and continue to lead the agenda for change in relation to planning.
We are a cross-Party group with affiliations to no other party and are standing in the forthcoming local council election and in the the Guildford constituency at the General Election.
Guildford Greenbelt Group represents the views of residents living within the Borough, who support the core principals to protect greenbelt and the character of our town and villages. Guildford Greenbelt Group is supported by a number of Local Groups & Associations and thousands of individuals who have expressed support in a variety of ways.
